FAQs

Can I bring more than one dog?

Yes, of course, we do not have any restrictions on the number of dogs you bring.

Can my dog(s) sleep on the furniture/beds?

Absolutely but we do ask that you use the blankets/ throws provided or bring your own bedding.

Is the outside area secure?

We have done everything we can to ensure the outside area fencing is as secure as possible. We have 6ft stock fencing around the whole site with additional areas of screening where we felt appropriate.

I have a very small dog, can they escape?

For the tiny escapees we have also added an additional layer of chicken wire style fencing to the bottom of all perimeters to help minimise the risk of dogs getting out.

My dog is not reactive/ I don't have a dog, can I still come?

While we intend Red Dog Retreat to mainly serve reactive dog owners, we are very happy to share our space with others. We feel so lucky to live here and we know you will love it too.

What triggers might my dog come across if we stay with you?

Whilst we have done everything we can to minimise the risk of triggers we do live in a rural farming community. If you have a dog that is especially sensitive to noise, you are likely to hear the noise of tractors, livestock and working dogs. The whole of this area also forms part of the Mach loop RAF training. There is no schedule for this, however the jets do fly over occasionally.

Are there any secure dog walking fields near you?

The closest secure fields to us are:

The Great Outpaws- LLanwrtyd Wells

The Whole Yard- near Talgarth

Wern Isaf Fields- Nelson, Treharries

How long can I book for?

We know the stress that owning a reactive dog can bring you so believe you need at least a week here to fully unwind and relax. Bookings are available for one or two weeks.

There are a few tourist areas around, how will I know where is best for my dog?

We will share our knowledge of walks which might suit you and your reactive dogs best avoiding potential triggers. We also provide several OS maps of the local area and recommendations from previous guests.

I have a bully breed- can I bring them?

Initially we will be unable to host bully breeds but plan to allow them once we have the appropriate insurance and measures in place. We will ask that owners follow all the correct guidance to safeguard themselves and their dogs. We will also ask to be sent the certificate of exemption for each bully to come and stay in advance of their holiday.

Can I smoke in the cabin?

The cabin will be strictly non- smoking inside but there will be plenty of external areas to smoke in should you wish.
